A strong earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 6.1, struck the Osaka region of Japan on Monday morning, say reports. At least three people - two elderly men in their 80s and a 9-year-old girl - died, while at least eight others were injured. Many others are also feared dead in the earthquake.
The Meteorological Agency reportedly said that the quake hit at around 8 am and occurred at a depth of about 10 km in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture. However, no tsunami warning was issued.
The weather agency warned people of landslides and added that there could be aftershocks for a few days. A lot of train lines were closed and power was disconnected for thousands of homes and buildings for several hours before restoration.
