Indonesia's Aceh province has reportedly banned men and women to dine together unless they are related to each other or married. The law has been introduced to help women be "more well behaved".
Aceh is the only region in the world's most populous Muslim majority country to impose the Islamic law on its citizens. It has faced much criticism for publicly whipping people found guilty of consuming alcohol, homosexuality and gambling.
The head of the local sharia office, Jufliwan reportedly said, "The objective is to protect women’s dignity so they will feel more comfortable, more at ease, more well behaved and will not do anything that violates sharia (Islamic law)."
It was also ordered that women who are alone cannot be served at restaurants and cafes after 9 pm.
