A report by the National Foundation for American Policy has revealed that H-1B visa approvals for top seven Indian IT companies have dropped by 43% between 2015 and 2017. The US think-tank, which collected the data from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the companies received only 8,468 approved H-1B petitions for initial employment in FY 2017. However, they received 14, 792 H-1B visas in FY 2015. Digital services requiring low workforce such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence is behind the drop, the report added.
