France Recorded Worst Daily Coronavirus Death Toll For The First Time!

As per a Reuters report, health officials from the country confirmed that 44,550 people have tested positive and 3,024 people have died after contracting the virus. The daily death count in France accounts for those dying in hospital, as authorities are unable to compile data on deaths in retirement homes and other places, which is likely to result in a big increase.

It was for the first time in France since the outbreak, that army helicopters transported patients who were critical from the east to hospitals overseas after the hospitals in the city ran short of free space in life-support units.

Looking at the records since March 1, the number of COVID-19 deaths has increased by 16 percent to 3,024, while the number of intensive care cases rose to more than 10 percent to 5,107.

Amid all the loss and painful moments, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has warned the country that the toughest weeks against epidemic is still to come. Currently, France has increased the number of beds in intensive care units from 5,000 to about 10,000 since the outbreak of the virus.
