Home > News Shots > World newsThe aerial view footage of the Bahamas Islands released by the Guardian shows the complete destruction of numerous livelihood by the storm Dorian. Reportedly, the storm attacked the Islands at the speed of 350 Kmph and the estimates reveal that 13000 houses have been destroyed while more than 60000 people lost their livelihood.
The northernmost Islands in the region of Atlantic ocean suffered extreme loses after the attack of Storm Dorian. The storm washed out cars, boats, containers, roof covers of houses and thousands of residents of Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands were left without shelter, food and medicines.
“We are in the midst of a historic tragedy. “The devastation is unprecedented and extensive,” the Bahamian prime minister, Hubert Minnis was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
According to the recent reports, the death toll has risen to 7 and more deaths are expected to be recorded. Heavy rains flooded the areas and it is said that seawater entered into the streets, thus enhancing the impact of the destruction.
A worldwide relief measure has been sought to recover Bahamas from its never before seen destruction. While the storm is said to be moving towards Florida, the US government issued warnings to the people residing in Florida and have also announced helpline numbers for the Bahamas people to get the necessary relief measures. Dorian is said to be the strongest Atlantic storm ever which can be compared with the Labor Day storm in 1935.
