According to reports, a Washington-based doctor was jailed for causing the abortion of his ex-girlfriend’s foetus by slipping an abortion pill into her drink. The man pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison after his ex-girlfriend asked for a lenient punishment. Reportedly, foetal suicide is punishable by up to 40 years in prison.
The couple was living in New York and dated for three years. The doctor, Sikander Imran, moved to Washington for a new job. Later, the girlfriend, Brook Fiske, found out that she was pregnant. However, Imran didn’t want the child. Hence, Brook visited Imran in Arlington, Virginia, in May 2017 to talk about raising the child.
He had slipped in 800 milligrams of the pill Misoprostol to her tea. The woman said she found a ‘gritty substance’ at the bottom of the cup. Sooner, she had contractions and was rushed to a hospital where she lost her 17-week foetus. However, she said that Imran cried that night and admitted what he had done.
