COVID-19 Can Survive on Soles of Shoes For Upto Five Days: Specialist Warns

As shoes and slippers are worn for the whole day; they are more likely to carry coronavirus especially in areas like supermarkets, airports or public transport.

As per a Daily Mail report, the sole of a shoe is the main place for bacteria, fungi and viruses to grow. Mostly, soles are made from durable materials like rubber, PVC or leather lined with plastic; which carry high levels of bacteria.
As per a recent study, in the New England Journal of Medicine, it shows that coronavirus can live on cardboard for 24 hours and on stainless steel and plastic for upto to three days. Also, the virus can remain on synthetic materials used in shoes for five days.
Meanwhile, San Diego doctor Nanos informed Huffington Post Australia the possibility of shoes carrying COVID-19 and how means and measure could be introduced to prevent it.
