A female student of Cornell University, New York reportedly stripped down to her underwear while presenting a thesis paper in front of her class. Letitia Chai was allegedly told by her professor, Rebekah Maggor on May 2 that her shorts were "too short" and that "she was inviting male gaze onto her body".
After the embarrassing situation she was put in, Chai stripped down to her underwear and continued to present her paper. Reportedly, 28 of the 44 students present in the class also took off their clothes and joined her.
Chai wrote on her Facebook page, "She said I was making a statement by wearing my outfit. I told her that I sure as hell wouldn’t change my statement to make her or anyone else feel more comfortable.” In response, Maggor told the media, "I do not tell my students what to wear, nor do I define for them what constitutes appropriate dress. I ask them to reflect for themselves and make their own decisions.”
