CoronaVac Vaccine Approved for Emergency Use to Vaccinate High-Risk Groups - Details Here!
Home > News Shots > World newsAs countries are rushing with COVID-19 vaccine trials across the world, Sinovac Biotech Ltd's coronavirus vaccine candidate CoronaVac has been approved for emergency use in China.
According to a Times Now report, this vaccine has been approved as part of a programme to vaccinate high-risk groups such as medical staff, a person familiar with the matter said.
Meanwhile, China National Biotec Group (CNBG), a unit of state-owned pharmaceutical giant China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm), has two vaccine candidates in phase 3 clinical trials. But they did not confirm which of its vaccines had been cleared for emergency use.
However, China has been giving experimental coronavirus vaccines to high-risk groups since July, a health official told state media. So far, China has given little details on which vaccine candidates have been given to high-risk people under the emergency use programme.
Currently, seven vaccines against the deadly COVID-19 are in final trial stages around the world, and four of them are from China, Times Now further reported.
