Watch VIDEO: Robot Recruited into Chinese Army, To Replace Human Soldiers
Home > News Shots > World newsChina has recruited a robotic tank with a machine gun and an infrared night-vision camera, for its army. They described the bot as ‘small but lethal’.
The bot is controlled by a remote and is designed to travel through complicated terrains at a fast speed. It can more likely replace human soldiers when it comes to undertaking dangerous missions. A video that was telecasted in the television shows showed how it inspects the surroundings, climbs stairs, monitoring the enemy at night, firing at a fixed target, and so on.
It can travel at an average speed of 10km per hours. It weighs 120 Kgs, 70 cm long and 60 cm tall. However, the bot cannot decide whom to attack. “It can react much faster than humans, but the problem is it cannot improvise. Therefore a human must supervise it and halt the task when deemed necessary,” said Bai Mengchen, Military Critic. This is an important point since in the absence of a human to control the bot, it would make unnecessary wrong kills.
The Television report said that the machine would be put to scout for information about enemies in remote and potentially dangerous missions or settings.
