Home > News Shots > World newsAt least three people have been found dead after a massive wildfire that sparked north of Sacramento, California, threatening thousands of homes and other structures.
California Highway Patrol Officer Ben Draper told the Bay Area News Group that two people were found dead in one location and a third person was discovered elsewhere, that one person was found in a car and apparently had been trying to escape the flames.
Currently, the wildfire northeast of San Francisco is threatening several communities after it burned a 25-mile path through mountainous terrain and parched foothills.
As per fire officials, hundreds of homes and other buildings are believed to have been damaged or destroyed. According to DNA reports, a surveillance footage shows a group of people gathered at the El Dorado Ranch Park in Yucaipa where a couple organised a party as they revealed the sex of their child to their friends and family.
During the party, a guest was seen igniting the “smoke-generating” firework which ultimately led to the wildfire. A pyrotechnic device was used during a gender reveal party that caused the massive wildfire in California.
Due to the wildfire, parts of the US state of Oregon woke up to skies turning into a dark reddish-orange colour. Within hours, social media was flooded with pictures and videos of the phenomenon.
So far, California has seen 900 wildfires since August 15, many of them started by an intense series of lightning strikes.
