Beirut Explosion: Lebanon PM Reveals Reason of 2 Massive Blasts; New Videos Go Viral!

The explosion devastated large parts of the Lebanese capital. On Tuesday, two huge explosions took place in its port that sent an enormous blast wave across the city. The explosion killed at least 78 people and injured more than 4000 people.

As per The Guardian report, the scale of the damage was so huge that buildings miles from the port are lying in ruin. "It is unacceptable that a shipment of 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate has been present for six years in a warehouse, without taking preventive measures. It is unacceptable and we cannot remain silent on this issue," a spokesman told a press conference.

Ammonium nitrate, is a common industrial chemical used in fertiliser and as a component in mining explosives. Prime Minister Diab also declared it a national day of mourning for the victims of the explosion.

Hours after the blast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his social media handle and expressed shock over the incident. "Shocked and saddened by the large explosion in Beirut city leading to loss of life and property. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and the injured," PM Modi said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump termed the explosion "bomb of some kind." While speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said "It looks like a terrible attack. It would seem like it, based on the explosion. I met with some of our great generals and they just seemed to feel that it was. This was not some kind of a manufacturing explosion type of event. It seems to be, according to them -- they would know better than I would -- but they seem to think it was an attack. It was a bomb of some kind, yes."
