Being transgender no longer a mental disorder

The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Monday announced that being transgender will no longer be classified as mental illness, a move that has been hailed by rights groups.

"Classifying it as mental illness can cause enormous stigma for people who are transgender," the UN health agency was quoted as saying. However, the WHO reclassified being transgender as a sexual health condition.
