Vanakkam and Namaste to all of you! It's David Beckham here!
It is an incredible honour for me to receive the Behindwoods Gold Medal Award. Firstly, I want to say how honoured and how happy I am to receive this award tonight. I am really sorry that I can't be with you in person. But it makes me very proud that I have been recognised in this way. Playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, PSG, the Galaxy and ofcourse England, I have gained so many fans from India, around the world and everytime I speak to my fans from India and everytime I see them there's incredible love.
Question: What would you like to say to all the millions and millions of fans in India? About people, culture and food?
David Beckham: I have been very lucky to visit to some amazing countries around the world, amazing cities but I have never been to India. So one of the things I am really looking forward in doing is getting involved in the culture, meeting people, meeting the fans and eating the food because I love Indian food and that is one thing that I can't wait to do.
Question: Few words for the upcoming young legs in India, can you share any useful piece of tip to achieve the glory in their life?
David Beckham: My advise to anyone young and growing up with dreams is to believe in yourself because it's what I did when I was your age. When I was young, I wanted to play football professionally. I wanted to play for England, i wanted to play for Manchester United. And my dreams came true because I believed in myself and worked hard. So, you have to believe in yourself and enjoy what you do!
I am so thankful for the love and support of my fans in India. I know how challenging these past couple of years have been for India and I also want to pay tribute to the strength and resilience of the Indian people. Your positivity and energy as a nation is inspiring and I know that it will have a profound impact on future generations. I wish you all peace and happiness and I look forward to being with you very soon. Thank you and I am sending love and best wishes to you and your families.
