The Hindu on Friday reported that at least 42 more Indians have been detained in New Mexico for allegedly gaining illegal entry into the United States. Earlier, it was reported that as many as 52 Indians are detained at a federal prison in Oregon. Reportedly, more such cases emerge as US administration strictly follows immigration laws.

Indian Embassy issued a statement saying that they have established contacts with both the detention centres and are monitoring the situation, the Hindu said. The statement also reportedly added that a consular official visited the facility in Oregon, while another is scheduled to visit New Mexico.
