Twitter urged all its 330 million users on Friday to change their passwords as a recent bug had been found by them. Reportedly, the bug caused some of the passwords stored in the internal computer system to appear in plain text.
Twitter wrote on their blog explaining the situation. Even though the glitch was fixed and there was no data threat, Twitter still asked its users to change their passwords "out of an abundance of caution." It wrote, "We are very sorry this happened."
We recently found a bug that stored passwords unmasked in an internal log. We fixed the bug and have no indication of a breach or misuse by anyone. As a precaution, consider changing your password on all services where you’ve used this password. https://t.co/RyEDvQOTaZ
