Netflix Comes out with Cool Offers; Selected Series and Documentaries are absolutely FREE!
Home > News Shots > Technology newsNetflix announced on Friday that some of its documentaries and series, including Our Planet and Explained, is now available on its YouTube channel for free.
The move was taken after teachers requested access to these documentaries and features since schools and colleges have been closed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Teachers have been actively indulging students in virtual classrooms and are encouraging them to use other online tools for academic learning.
Netflix follows a very rigid subscription model for availing its services, hence this was seen as a rare and unprecedented move.
"For many years, Netflix has allowed teachers to screen documentaries in their classrooms. However, this isn't possible with schools closed. So, at their request, we have made a selection of our documentary features and series available on the Netflix US YouTube channel," the company said in a blog post titled 'Responding to teachers requests for access to documentaries.’
The blog adds that, "We hope this will, in a small way, help teachers around the world. Note these documentaries are currently available in English. Subtitles in more than a dozen languages will be available later this week. Also, if you are a parent or teacher, please check the ratings so that you can make informed choices for your students and children.”
