Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsHealth Secretary Radhakrishnan has clarified the rumor that lockdown will be implemented again in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu, the spread of corona has decreased and people have returned to normal life. So corona restrictions are relaxed. But now the corona spread is starting to increase again. Therefore, the Government of Tamil Nadu has advised to wear masks in public places and the observance of social spaces.
Corona spread has occurred in IIT Chennai, Chennai. More than 70 students there have been reported to be suffering from corona infection. The corona infection was confirmed in a student who was staying at the Mandakini hostel. In a subsequent test, 60 people were confirmed infected as of last Sunday. Health officials said 18 more people had been confirmed infected following the incident.
Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan told reporters today (26.04.2022) ‘So far 2,057 people have been tested at the IIT College campus. All victims are being isolated and monitored. Some people have a mild fever and sore throat. If necessary, they will be admitted to the King Institute in Guindy.
He continued, ‘The public should not believe rumors that curfew will be imposed again in Tamil Nadu. At present, only 3 out of 1000 people in Tamil Nadu are diagnosed with corona infection. Yet all members of the public must wear a mask and be vaccinated. Only then can we prevent further outbreaks. Otherwise no one should believe the unnecessary rumors about the corona and the curfew. '
