Our Behindwoods team recently met Divya, Priya and Dharshini, schoolgirls belonging to the nomadic Narikuravar community in Avadi who explained their plight of hailing from a backward community. The video of the same speaking in Tamil and English went viral on social media.
Chief Minister Appreciates
R. Priya, a ninth grader in Immaculate school in Avadi, K. Divya, a 10th grader at Ebenezer school in Ambattur, and SS Dharshini, a class 7 student at Nazareth Academy in Avadi - Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin appreciated these students.
The students requested the Chief Minister to move the Narikuravar community from the most backward class to the scheduled tribes community, upgrade the existing facility in their colony and also aid their education.
Commenting on this, Chief Minister Stalin said on his Twitter page, "Sister Divya's speech that echoes self-confidence keeps echoing in me! Our qualifications and talents as Divya, Priya, Darshini are unmatched by anyone! We are moving forward; Breaking the barriers #DravidianModel in the sculptures we carve will rise!"
Video Call
Minister for Milk & Dairy Development Avadi Nasser, Avadi Mayor Udayakumar and Deputy Mayor Suriyakumar visited the residence of the Narikuravar community in Avadi today. Following this, Stalin talked to them via video call.
The students and their parents then asked the Chief Minister to visit their area to which Stalin replied, "I shall definitely come and see you next week." He also asked them, "Will you give me dinner if I come to your house?"
The people were quick enough to reply, "Definitely!"
