On the 21st, councilors staged a sit-in protest at the council meeting hall located at the municipal office in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore district. In this the police were employed for security duty. Food was then served to the guards at noon. Abu Dahir, a constable, suddenly felt like he had a blockage while eating.

Abu Dahir, who could not breathe for a while, was confused not knowing what to do. An assistant inspector working in the same building at the time ran to Damodar and explained to him that he had a gesture problem.

Assistant Investigator Damodaran, who understood Abu Dahir's situation, immediately shook him. Thus Abu Dahir was saved. Fellow guards there then gave Abu Dahir water and relaxed. After resting for a while, Abu Dahir resumed his work.

The incident was recorded on a surveillance camera at the Mettupalayam Municipal Office. Municipal officials who have now released the footage have been praised by Assistant Inspector Damodaran for their prompt action.
