Mamallapuram sea recedes suddenly - Archeologically important artifacts surface!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsFollowing the sinking of the Mamallapuram sea, the public was amazed to see the ancient temple artefacts set aside.
Chengalpattu District Mamallapuram Beach Temple North fishermen's residential area was suddenly submerged by the sea last evening. Then it was reported that the stone, pillars and bricks of the ancient temple were lying aside. Fishermen in the area have posted on social media that this may be one of the temples that was swept away at sea.
So many locals and tourists go to the beach and marvel at the objects lying there. According to local fishermen, the sand has been removed from the area for the past two days due to sea erosion. So some structures began to appear outside the back of the beach temple. Especially the bricks and temple pillars were visible on the outside.
The people of the area say that it may have been a temple if it looked like a small urn-like tower. The public in the area have also collected pottery tiles lying on the beach. Another coin is said to have been found in the area.
People in the area say that despite the frequent piracy in the area, constructions to this extent are not fully known outside. As the news spread across the area, crowds of people started flocking to the Mamallapuram Beach Temple area.
Officials said that when they look at the urns, pillars and bricks, it looks like a walled building. It also looks like damaged stones laid to protect the temple. It is not certain that the beach is an ancient temple.
Archaeologists and archaeologists from the Archaeological Survey of India, headquartered in Chennai, today or tomorrow have a team of researchers from the University of Chennai, including a professor of architecture, to inspect the coffin and the pillars. Is this the temple after this? Round wall? Will be revealed.
