Speaking to reporters, Tamil Nadu Transport Minister S S Sivasankar said, "E-tickets will be introduced on buses instead of regular tickets by the end of this year.
New smart card
The Government of Tamil Nadu has been implementing a free bus pass scheme for school children in Tamil Nadu for many years. In this context, Minister S S Sivasankar has announced that a new smart card will be issued to students for free travel.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said, "School children will be given smart cards to travel on buses. Tenders have been called for the issuance of smart cards. Until the new smart card is issued, students can travel on buses using the old smart card cards already issued."
The Minister of Transport has said that the e-ticketing scheme will be implemented by the end of this year, much to the delight of the public.
