A 35-year-old woman approached the police on Monday alleging that in the pretext of donating blood, a kidney was removed from her 19-year-old son. Shakeela Banu alleged that the doctors of the private hospital where her son went to conspired with some of her relatives.

Banu's husband had died in 2005, following which she started working as a domestic help for a living. Her eldest son, Mohammed Fakhrudin had reportedly dropped out of class 10 and took up odd jobs to support his family. Allegedly, one of Banu's relatives in 2017 recommended donating blood to get financial aid.

Fakhrudin was taken to a private hospital in Madurai where it was announced that his blood was infected and should undergo a surgery. Despite reluctance, Fakhrudin was operated on. Upon returning home after a month, the boy found it difficult to walk. On consulting another doctor, it was found that a kidney had been removed from Fakhrudin.

Banu, along with her son filed a complaint with the police on Monday. The police will begin investigating the complaint.
