Madurai-based writer A Soundarapandi, who was arrested by police for murdering his son, died at the government hospital in Madurai on Monday. The 55-year-old, who was lodged in Madurai central prison, was admitted to the hospital following poor health on May 22.


Known as Sauba in his circle, the writer shot to fame for the story of the Tamil flick “Seevalaperi Pandi”, starring Napoleon. Soundarapandi started his career as a journalist and became a writer. His wife, S Latha Pooranam, is the principal of the government arts college in Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi.


The writer was residing in Doak Nagar in Kochadai in Madurai. Police arrested him earlier in May for murdering his son Vibin and burning his body on a farmland in Dindigul.
