According to reports, motorists on Mount Poonamaallee High Road at Manapakkam will have a smooth drive instead of traffic jams near MIOT Hospital in two weeks. The bridge across the Adyar river has reportedly been widened from 19m to 31m at a cost of Rs 17 crore.

On both sides of the bridge, a provision of 2m-wide footpaths with handrails, bollards, and lighting have been added. Earlier, crossing the bridge was a nightmare for many pedestrians. The widened portion of the bridge is likely to be formally opened for traffic in two weeks.
