Tamil Nadu fisheries minister D Jayakumar on Thursday strongly stated that BJP cannot win in Tamil Nadu as they did in Karnataka. “As far as AIADMK is concerned, we’re senior champions; Juniors’ attempt won’t work here,” he said. He also expressed hope that any government in Karnataka, irrespective of the political party, will implement Supreme Court’s order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

In Karnataka, Governor Vajubhai Vala on Thursday administered the oath of office and secrecy to BJP’s Yeddyurappa as the Chief Minister despite the party’s numbers being short of a clear majority. While BJP has 104 Assembly seats, the 224-member Karnataka Assembly requires 112 seats to form the government.
