Collector Vijayakarthikeyan Inaugurates 'Disinfection Tunnel' in Tiruppur!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsIn a first of its kind in India, a ‘disinfection tunnel’ has been set up in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur District to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The tunnel has been installed at the entrance of Thennampalayam vegetable market and was inaugurated by District Collector Vijayakarthikeyan. Visitors should wash their hands and then walk through the tunnel for 3 to 5 seconds before entering the market.
Mr Vijayakarthikeyan took to Twitter to share a video that shows people entering and walking through the tunnel with their hands up.
Shared on Wednesday, the tweet garnered huge attention in a short time as people started flooding the comments section with support messages.
Mr Vijayakarthikeyan was also hugely applauded for his swift actions in ensuring help to the stranded migrant workers across the district.
