In a bizarre incident, an FIR was filed against 46 employees of BSNL, for posting an emoji - of crying with laughter - in a WhatsApp group.
One Vijayalakshmi, a divisional engineer got offended as the other employees replied with ‘LOL’ emoji for a video, in which reply to a customer was narrating about the network.
The Madras High Court on Friday reportedly quashed the FIR against them, noting that an emoji cannot be treated as an overt act against others. "Everyone has a right to express their feelings and share their ideas. Every person has got the indefeasible right to express what they feel," Justice S S Sundar reportedly said while hearing the case.
