According to reports, one Bheemaraj from Y.Othakadai went for treatment for jaundice in May 2008. However, the private hospital in Madurai removed his spleen by mistake. Later in 2009, he was admitted to another private hospital in Madurai and was given ultrasonography treatment.

Since he did not get better even after this treatment, Beemarajan went to another private hospital and then finally to the Government Rajaji Hospital with his medical records. Beemarajan then came to know that his spleen had been removed through surgery.

The government has ordered the hospital to compensate with Rs 2.25 lakh for Bheemaraj’s loss, mental stress and the treatments that he underwent.
