Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsMinutes after condoling the death of Tamil jawan Palani, who died along LAC in Ladakh, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced a compensation of Rs. 20 Lakh to the family of the martyred along with a government job to a family member.
"I have sanctioned Rs 20 lakh to the family and a government job for one family member. I have also instructed the Ramanathapuram district collector to go in person and pay homage to the soldier,” said Palaniswami in a statement as per Times of India.
Expressing his shock over Palani's death, the Chief Minister earlier took to Twitter and said "I was shocked to know about the death of Palani, a native of Kadakalur village in Ramanathapuram district, by the Chinese army in Ladakh region. My condolences to the family members,” tweeted.
Yesterday night, an Indian Army officer and two soldiers were killed after a "violent face off" with Chinese military. This violent face-off between Indian and Chinese military forces took place amid heightened tensions between the two countries.
Highlighting the Tamil Nadu soldier, it is reported that Palani was killed in the attack by the Chinese army. He is a native of Kadukkalur village which is close to Thiruvadanam in Ramanathapuram district.
Palani, has been serving the Army for 22 years and is currently 40 years old. Meanwhile, one of his brothers also served in the army for 10 years.
