According to reports, a 24-year-old thief on Sunday bit off a cop's finger while trying to escape after stealing a bag in Koyambedu. Reportedly, 17-year-old N Jagadeesh had arrived from Coimbatore and was waiting to take a cab home when Iyappan snatched his bag. Jagadeesh immediately called for help and passersby helped him catch the thief.
However, when Iyappan was being handed over to Constable Karthik, he viciously bit off the cop's ring finger and tried to make a run for it. Iyappan was caught again and beaten up by the public. Reportedly, Iyappan has been involved in many thefts near Koyambedu and Thirumangalam.
