People from all over the World converge at Tanjavur for Tanjavur Big Temple Consecration!

Tanjore district is in a festive mode after the Madras High Court ruled that the Tanjore Consecration would be held in both Tamil and Sanskrit.

Apart from around 5,500 police personnel on security duty, the entire temple premises and the city is under CCTV surveillance for which around 300 CCTV cameras were installed at key points and at places where people gather in large numbers. Moreover, three more helicams is also being used for surveillance.

Earlier, ADGP Jayanth Murali, in association with DIG (Thanajur Range) Loganathan, visited the spot and reviewed the security arrangements.

The temple administration performed the eighth kaala yagasalai pooja at 4.30 am while the Naadi chandanam, Maha Poornahoothi, Deepa Aradhana and Yatra Dhanam were performed at 7.25 am.

The holy water was carried to the Vimanam at 9.30 am and the water would be poured onto the temple tower and the Vimanam to mark the commencement of the consecration.

Today at 6 pm, special abhishekam to Peruvudayar and Periyanayaki and maha deepa aradhana would be held and the Veedhi ula would be held at 10 pm.

Five lakh devotees are expected to attend today’s event.
