Schools in Tamil Nadu All Set To Reopen From October 1; State Government Issues Guidelines!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsAfter months of wait, the Tamil Nadu government has allowed schools to reopen for classes 10, 11, and 12 students. They would visit schools on a voluntary basis for taking guidance from teachers from October 1, 2020.
Before the schools can reopen, the state government has issued a set of Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs for the students who would be attending schools.
Also, students who would want to take help or guidance from their teachers will have to bring a written consent from their parents or guardians. But students of the containment zones will not be allowed to visit the schools on any condition. While, online or distance learning classes will continue for all students.
Below are few SOPs on the list:
- The students of classes 10, 11, and 12 would be divided into two batches. After which students of only one batch shall be permitted on a day. The first batch will be permitted to visit the school on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while the second batch will be permitted on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
- Schools premises should be disinfected properly before calling students. This exercise should be done every morning before the commencement of school.
- Students, who visit the school will have to maintain social distancing norms along with teaching and non-teaching staff. A total of 50 percent of students will be called to schools in a class.
- The physical distancing of at least 6 feet is to be maintained as far as possible. Even in places like staff rooms, office areas, and in other school areas.
- Wearing of face cover is mandatory for teachers, students, and personnel involved in the work. Everyone needs to wear the mask in all areas of the schools' premises.
Schools have remained closed since March, when the lockdown was initially imposed.
