Police have reportedly arrested Raj Bhavan accountant Sivakumar and assistant accountant Kuppusamy in connection with the Rs 10 crore scam in the procurement of furniture for the Raj Bhavan. Earlier in April, police had arrested two staff members - 29-year-old S Rajesh, an office assistant, and 39-year-old Justin Rajesh, a conservancy staff member - of the governor’s official residence.

According to reports, Rs 10 crore of public money was swindled between 2015-17 by fabricating bills in the purchase of furniture for Raj Bhavan. Police in February arrested 45-year-old Mohammad Younis, whose showroom, Sait’s Furnishings, was supplying furniture to the Raj Bhavan for the last 15 years.

Sowri Rajan, Deputy Secretary to the Governor and Comptroller, lodged a complaint with the Guindy police in February after receiving complaints about the furniture. Police registered a case and are investigating it.
