Auto Services to Start in Tamil Nadu - Details

The Tamil Nadu government on Friday allowed autos and cycle rickshaws to operate across the state, except in Chennai and COVID-19 containment zones, from 23 May (tomorrow) between 7 am and 7 pm.

Only one passenger is permitted to travel at a time. Auto / cycle richshaw drivers residing at containment zones are not allowed to operate their vehicles.

Notification from the government on the same said all the vehicles that ply should have sanitizer for the use of passengers and should be disinfected thrice in a day. Wearing a mask is mandatory for both drivers and passengers.

On a related note, the Tamil Nadu government has asked Civil Aviation Ministry to defer resumption of flight services in the State till 31 May as there is an increasing trend in COVID-19 cases.

The Centre had earlier announced that it is planning to resume flights in a calibrated manner from 25 May.
