Tamil Nadu Gets Five New Districts: Boundaries Redrawn!
Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsThe Tamil Nadu Government has modified the revenue boundaries of four districts - Tirunelveli, Vellore, Kancheepuram and Villupuram for the creation of the already announced five districts - Tenkasi, Tirupattur, Ranipet, Chengalpet and Kallakurichi.
As per the order, the two divisions -- Kancheepuram and Sriperumbudur (new) -- and five taluks -- Kancheepuram, Uthiramerur, Sriperumbudur, Walajabad and Kundrathur (new) -- will come under Kancheepuram district.
Three divisions -- Chengalpet, Maduranthagam and Tambaram -- and eight taluks -- Chengalpet, Maduranthagam, Cheyyur, Thirukalukundram, Thiruporur, Tambaram, Pallavaram and Vandalur (new) -- will constitute the Chengalpet district.
Two divisions -- Tirunelveli and Cheranmahadevi -- and eight taluks -- Tirunelveli, Palayamkottai, Manur, Nanguneri, Radhapuram, Ambasamudram, Cheranmahadevi and Thisayanvilai -- constitute Tirunelveli district.
Two divisions -- Tenkasi and Sankarankovil (new) -- and eight taluks -- Tenkasi, Shencottai, Kadayanallur, Sivagiri, Veerakeralampudur, Sankarankovil, Thiruvengadam and Alangulam -- constitute Tenkasi district.
Two revenue divisions -- Kallakurichi and Tirukoilur -- and six taluks -- Kallakurichi, Sankarapuram, Chinnasalem, Tirukoilur, Ulundurpet and Kalvarayan hills (new) -- constitute Kallakurichi district.
