In a heart-rending incident in Thiruparankundram near Madurai, a family of three including a 6-year-old child was killed on Wednesday after an LPG cylinder at their house exploded at around 3 am, says a report by The New Indian Express.

The couple - Ramamoorthy and Kanchana - and their daughter Akshaya, residents of Balaji Nagar, died in the explosion in kitchen, which led to the blaze in the ground floor elevation. Neighbours alerted fire and rescue services, who arrived at the spot and rescued Ramamoorthy with grievous injuries.

He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. The bodies of his wife Kanchana and daughter Akshaya were found charred in the fire. Police have reportedly filed a case and a probe is on to establish the cause of the explosion.
