The Supreme Court on Monday announced that the Madras High Court's order on the ban of 1,300 Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) outlets on highways in Tamil Nadu will continue.
The High Court had ordered the state to shut down liquor shops opened on highways as they were not in accordance with the Supreme Court's order. The TN government, however, opposed the ban and approached the Supreme Court on May 1.
The Supreme Court announced that an interim ban cannot be imposed against the HC's order on TASMAC outlets and that the order will continue.
