Haritha, a first-year M.Sc Psychology student of Bharathiar University in Coimbatore, has alleged that her HOD (Head of the Department) scolded her with obscene words in his locked room. She has reportedly filed complaints with Tamil Nadu Governor, Director General of Police, Human Rights Commission and Kerala Chief Minister to take action against the HOD and her hostel wardens.

Haritha from Malappuram in Kerala, on November 14 last year, had asked the hostel warden Prema for permission to take her fellow hostel mate to a hospital as she fell ill. However, Prema allegedly not only denied them an ambulance but also had locked the hostel when they returned from the hospital. When she raised the issue, she was allegedly humiliated in her classroom and made to stand on a bench by hostel head warden Dharmaraj and HOD Velayudham.

Further, Velayudham allegedly later called her to his room, where he scolded her with obscene words, after locking the door. Following which, he forcefully handed her the transfer certificate and sent her out. Vadavalli police have been probing the matter. Police Inspector has reportedly said that action will be taken against the accused if cognizable offences are found.

Notably, head warden Dharmaraj was earlier arrested by the anti-corruption police for getting bribes for university Vice-Chancellor. He is out on bail.
