Amidst the ongoing protest against the Sterlite Industries in Tuticorin, DMK working president MK Stalin on Monday issued a statement urging the Tamil Nadu government to protect the people from the pollution caused by the company’s copper plant. Assuring the party’s support to the protest against the plant, Stalin said the plant is polluting the Thamirabarani river while leaving people with bodily ailments such as cancer and skin diseases. The opposition leader also accused the state pollution control board of not taking appropriate actions to prevent the company from polluting the area.
