Anti-Sterlite protests have been taking place in Thoothukudi for more than 100 days now. The protests which were predominantly peaceful turned violent on the 100th day after the police opened gunfire on the protestors. 13 people have been killed so far due to the eruption of violence.

 

Along with fishermen representatives and stakeholders, Thoothukudi Police Superintendent and District Collector Sandeep Nanduri conducted a meeting on Saturday so as to bring back peace in the district.

 

After the meeting, Sandeep Nanduri reportedly met with the press and assured that steps will be taken to close the Sterlite plant in Thoothukudi.
