Speaking to reporters at the Chennai airport on Sunday, DMK working president MK Stalin demanded that the policemen, who opened fire at anti-Sterlite protesters in Thoothukudi, be booked for murder. The opposition leader also stated that DMK will move court if the district collector and the Superintendent of Police failed to do so.
Stalin also stressed that the Tamil Nadu government should constitute a cabinet meeting and pass a resolution for the permanent closure of the Sterlite copper plant in Thoothukudi.
He also slammed PM Modi for not visiting Thoothukudi or speaking out following the tragic incident. Stating that the PM should’ve visited the harbour town or sent a Union Minister, Stalin added, “If nothing else, they must have at least given messages of condolence to the families of who have lost their loved ones. It is shameful.”
