Southern Railway has Announced 4 more 'Special Trains' from Chennai - Details

Southern Railway recently announced that it will be operating four more special reserved trains along with the 9 trains that are already operational. The step is being taken as a part of resuming train services in Tamil Nadu from September 7.

-One of the special trains, the Egmore- Sengottai tri- weekly train will leave Chennai at 8:25 pm and reach Sengottai at 9 am. No. 06181 train will start operating from September 10. During the return journey, the train will leave at 4:45 pm on September 11 and reach Egmore by 5:30 am the next day. 

-No 02633 Egmore-Kanyakumari daily train is scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 5.15pm starting September 8. In the return direction, the train will leave Kanyakumari at 5.05pm starting September 9.

-Chennai-Mettupalayam daily is set to leave MGR Chennai Central at 9.05pm and will resume operations from September 7. During the return journey, No 02672 daily train will leave Mettupalayam at 7.45pm on September 8. 

Tirchy- Nagercoil superfast daily is scheduled to leave Trichy at 6 am and reach Nagercoil by 1pm on the same day. It is commencing operations from September 7.  In the return direction, No 02628 will leave Nagercoil at 3pm the same day and reach Trichy at 9.45pm.

According to TImes of India’s report, “Railways have already announced nine trains: Chennai–Coimbatore–Chennai superfast intercity, Coimbatore–Mayiladuthurai– Coimbatore Janshatabdi, Chennai–Coimbatore – Chennai superfast express special, Chennai–Coimbatore–Chennai superfast express special, Chennai Egmore–Trichy–Chennai Egmore (via main line), Chennai Egmore–Karaikkudi–Chennai Egmore superfast, Chennai Egmore–Madurai–Chennai Egmore superfast, Chennai Egmore–Madurai Chennai Egmore superfast, Chennai Egmore–Tuticorin -Chennai Egmore superfast.”
