Home > News Shots > Tamil Nadu newsOn August 31 (Saturday), finance minister Nirmala Seetharaman made an announcement that 10 Public Sector banks will be merged. The announcement received criticisms from the Bank employees which led to their protest on September 1. As per Dinamalar, Bank authorities have decided to stage a protest on September 26 and September 27.
Therefore all the banking transactions would be stopped on these two days. Further, the next two days (September 28 and 29) will be bank holidays owing to 4th Saturday and Sunday. On the whole, people won't be able to able to make transactions at the bank on these 4 days.
Though private banks refill ATMs across various locations, the 4 days shutdown may pose difficulties for Bank authorities to fill the machines with enough cash. It is said that people need to be prepared well in advance to face the 4-day situation.
Reports say that it is recommended for people to withdraw cash required for the mentioned 4 days and plan all the transactions including cash deposit and cheque clearance in advance.
