After sharing a derogatory post on Facebook about journalist Lakshmi Subramanian, S Ve Shekher sent an official statement saying that he accidentally shared a friend's post without reading it through. After realising the content, he said that he immediately removed it.
S Ve Shekher said, "I apologize to all female journalists to whom this incident could have caused dejection." He also said that he treats all women as his sister and that he does not support anything that disrespects women. The apology came on April 20 after sharing a sexist post on Facebook titled, "Madurai University, the Governor and a virgin girl’s cheek."
