Vacuum Cleaner Worth Rs 20 Lakh Deployed On The Streets Of Chennai

A Chennai-based real estate company named Urban Tree has launched a 'Swachh Chennai' program, as part of its corporate social responsibility. The organisation has deployed a large-sized garbage cleaner that picks up dry waste like paper and discarded plastic items from the streets.


Procured from Belgium at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh, the cleaner is used in on particular area of the city on weekdays. On the weekends, it is deployed to clean the beaches, said Sadiq Ahmed from Urban Tree.


"It is capable of cleaning and holding 20kg of litter in one go," Sadiq told Times of India.


The cleaner is being deployed across the streets of Chennai by workers, hired by Urban Tree. The company also plans to obtain more such cleaners in the near future.
