Tamil development minister Ma Foi Pandiarajan on Monday said that the police will take BJP politician S Ve Shekher to court on June 20. A case was filed against the actor-turned-politician after he shared a post on Facebook which depicted women journalists in a bad light.
The minister was addressing at a meeting, organised to explain the state government’s efforts regarding the Cauvery water dispute, in Redhills of Tiruvallur district. He said, “As the Speaker mentioned in the Assembly, it is the duty of the state government to produce (S Ve Shekher) before the court… the police will do their duty and produce him before the court on June 20.”
The BJP politician’s post on Facebook triggered controversy as it contained derogatory remarks against women journalists in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, the Madras High Court rejected his plea seeking anticipatory bail, following which he moved Supreme Court. The top court also later rejected his plea.
