According to reports, jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh, 1.5 lakh in cash and six silk sarees were stolen from former union minister P Chidambaram's house at Pycrofts Garden Road, Nungambakkam. Chidambaram's wife, Nalini discovered the robbery on Saturday night and a police complaint was filed on the same day.
Investigating the CCTV footage, it was found that two maids who worked for the Chidambaram's had stolen the valuables. Reportedly, the theft took place ten days before.
The complaint was withdrawn after the maids' families promised to return the stolen goods.
