According to reports, nine people died after two vehicles crashed into each other in the early hours of Friday in Perambalur. Reportedly, a family of nine were travelling to Kodaikanal in a multi-utility vehicle when a car from the opposite direction crossed the median and crashed into them.
Eight members of the family, including three children and one from the other car, died on the spot due to the impact of the accident. The injured were admitted to the Perambalur Government Hospital.
It is alleged that the driver of the car was in an inebriated state. The Perambalur police are currently investigating the accident.
