The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai on Friday said that some places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to receive heavy rains coupled with thunder. As for Chennai, the skies will be cloudy. The city may receive mild rains along with thunder in the evening.


The weather centre also instructed fishermen in the southern parts of the state to be careful and cautious while venturing into the sea as there could be heavy winds.


In the 24 hours that ended by 8.30 am on Friday, Devala in Nilgiris district, Chinna Kallar and Valparai in Coimbatore District received 2 centimetres of rains
